Academic Background

Bachelor of Environmental Studies in Honours Geography at The University of Waterloo

Masters of Education in Curriculum Studies at The University of Western Ontario 


Doug Koegler, Part Time Instructor, with Faculty of Education at Wilfrid Laurier University.  He currently teaches EU 414: Junior/Intermediate Social Studies.

He has been an elementary Geography and History teacher, a school board consultant in Environmental Studies K-6 and Geography 7-12, and a Social Sciences department head in the secondary panel.  He taught Additional Qualification courses In P/J Science for Western and helped to coordinate and lead the ‘Geography for the Twenty First Century’ summer institutes at Queen’s University.  He has served as president of The Ontario Association for Geographic and Environmental Education, an recently received its Award of Distinction.

Prof. Koegler is a teacher consultant of National Geographic Society and continues to offer workshops at conferences of The Ontario Association of Geographic Education, The National Council of Geographic Education and the Ontario Librarians’ Association. 

In recent years he has written a guided reading booklet about a train trip across Canada, and annually guest lectures to the teacher candidates at Queen’s University on the value of Children’s Literature in Geography and Social Studies programs.
