How to Apply

There are three ways to begin your LEAF program studies at Laurier, which vary depending on your academic goals:

1. Apply to an academic program and to the LEAF program at the same time using Laurier's LEAF Application.
2. Apply to study in the LEAF program only.
3. Accept a conditional offer of admission and enrol in the LEAF program.

Apply to Undergraduate Studies and the LEAF Program

Apply using the Laurier LEAF application. You must select your academic program and apply for the term that you want to begin your LEAF program studies. If you are eligible for your academic program, you will receive an offer of admission with a condition to complete the LEAF program. Once you complete LEAF, you may enrol in undergraduate studies.

Apply to the LEAF Program Only

If you wish to apply to the LEAF program only and not to undergraduate studies, complete and submit the LEAF Program Registration Form. To enrol in the LEAF program, you must submit a current assessment of your English proficiency, which must be uploaded with your application form. 

Accept a Conditional Offer of Admission and Enrol in the LEAF Program

All undergraduate applicants are required to meet our English-proficiency requirement by submitting evidence of their proficiency in English.

If you apply to an undergraduate program at Laurier and meet the academic requirements for your program, but do not meet our English-proficiency requirement, you will receive an offer of admission with a condition to provide evidence of your English proficiency.

You may enrol in the LEAF program to meet this condition. To enrol, you must accept your offer of admission and then register for the LEAF program under the “My Applications” tab of your applicant portal.

English Proficiency Test Score to LEAF Level

Before you start the LEAF program, submit your most recent IELTS or TOEFL score to leaf@wlu.ca to determine which of our 5 levels you will start in.

When you successfully complete a level of the LEAF program, you will progress to the next level. When you successfully finish level 5, which includes completing a course for credit that can be used towards your degree program at Laurier, you have met Laurier’s English-proficiency requirement.
