Join us at Laurier

Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Your first year at university is a time of tremendous change and growth. Chances are you’ll be moving away from home and responsible for your own choices for the first time. You’ll be meeting new people and introduced to new ideas. And you’ll be studying and learning in ways completely different from what you’ve already experienced.

It’s an exciting time, but it can also be overwhelming. We offer programs that will aid in your transition from high school to your first year of university.

Laurier 101

Laurier 101 is a collection of programs specifically tailored for incoming students that support you from the time you accept your offer until the first week of classes and beyond.

Course Registration Help

Registration webinars will guide you through the process choosing your classes and completing your registration on LORIS.

Get a Headstart

The Headstart program is an introduction to life and learning at Laurier that is offered on campus in both Waterloo and Brantford. An online program is offered for international students.

During Headstart you can meet with an advisor to review your schedule, meet other new and senior students from your program, discuss the real differences between high school and university and get strategies for getting off to a strong start in your first year. Bring your parents or guardians with you to Headstart and encourage them to participant in our family sessions.

Online Summer Orientation

Our Online Summer Orientation program is a way for you to keep in touch with Laurier throughout the summer through interactive resources such as custom maps and live chats with current students and staff.

Orientation Week

Orientation Week activities will guide you through your first days on campus. Whether you're living on-campus or off-campus, transferring from another institution, coming from another country or coming back as a mature student, there is something for everyone at orientation week!

Accessible Learning Support

Transition Connections: Orientation to Accessible Learning is designed to introduce students with documented disabilities to support services offered at Laurier.

Math Preparation

TriAGe helps prepare students who plan to enrol in an entry-level university calculus course by reinforcing fundamental skills in trigonometry, algebra and geometry.
