Join us at Laurier

Being a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Hey future Golden Hawks!

My name is Kira and I am a second year Economics student here at Laurier. This is my first year being a Campus Ambassador and I’m super excited to join the ambassador team!

I chose Laurier because of its amazing community! Thinking back to when I toured Laurier for the first time, I was blown away by how small and tight-knit the community was. I was amazed by how everyone seemed to know someone on campus and that there was always a smiling face no matter where you were. Laurier showed me nothing but love and quickly become my home away from home.

In my first year at Laurier I made it my mission to get involved in some way with the University. I joined a committee called Peer Connect. This committee is all about raising awareness and ending the stigma associated with mental health. Our goal was to connect students with many resources as well as each other to ensure that no one felt alone or helpless. I assisted with organizing and running many events hosted by Peer Connect. Towards the end of my first year I volunteered to continue on this committee and also volunteered to be an ice breaker for the future hawks joining our community.

Laurier has become a huge part of my life. It has taught me so much both inside and outside of lecture halls. Laurier is a great community and I am so happy that you decided to join it by becoming a Golden Hawk.
