Third-year Business Administration
Shenyang, Liaoning, China
Hey, future Golden Hawks!
My name is Ella and I am an International student from China. I am going to my third year in September in Business Administration Program. I am honoured to be a campus ambassador and share my experience in Laurier with you!
Unlike most students, I completed my high school in China and didn’t get a chance to attend the Open House day. I couldn’t come on a tour and feel the school culture by myself. But I would say choosing Laurier is one of the best decisions that I have ever made!
When I first came to Canada, I was nervous because I wasn’t familiar with everything around me and I was shy to ask for help. The staff at Laurier International Office helped me to make a smooth transition to university. This made me have a feeling of home. Because of this, at the end of my first year, I applied to be an International Peer Mentor who help first year international students to adjust their lives in Laurier. There are lots of opportunities to get involved in Laurier. I have worked as a research assistant at Laurier Student Public Interest Research Group which aims to raise the awareness of social justice on campus. Laurier has an International Student Work Experience Program which offers on campus part-time job opportunities to international students. It is a good way to gain experience while not taking time away from your studies. In addition, Laurier has many different clubs which nearly cover each aspect, so you can always find friends who have same interest with you!
I am so excited to become an Ambassador and bring my passion about Laurier to you. You will never regret to choose Laurier! Hope to see you soon!
