Join us at Laurier

Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Laurier offers academic programming with Indigenous content – from a whole degree to numerous courses.

Indigenous Studies

Enhance the breadth and depth of your knowledge by combining a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Indigenous Studies with a complementary program such as Human Rights and Human Diversity, Criminology, Health Studies or Youth and Children’s Studies

Compliment your degree with an Indigenous Studies minor or take elective courses that interest you. We offer a number of courses in departments across the university that focus on Indigenous content that you can make a part of your Laurier experience.

Master of Social Work, Indigenous Field of Study

The Master of Social Work (MSW) Indigenous Field of Study is the first in Canada to combine a wholistic Indigenous worldview with contemporary social work practice, and includes the use of Indigenous Elders, a traditional circle process and Indigenous ceremonies. You’ll develop an understanding of and respect for the history, traditions and culture of the Indigenous peoples of Canada.
