No less than 9 weeks in advance of the proposed date for the oral examination, a nomination for the external examiner must be submitted on this form to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies by the academic unit. The members of the Dissertation Examining Committee are required to confirm their agreement in writing that the oral examination is to be scheduled and that they will be present at the examination. All signatures must be obtained.  Two copies of the dissertation must be received in the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies a minimum of 7 weeks prior to the proposed defence date.

NOTE: Whenever possible, the External Examiner participates via video-conferencing. If the program and the FGPS have agreed that the Examiner will attend in person, travel expenses are limited.
