Join us at Laurier

Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

There are three ways you can support your application to Laurier:

Applicant Background Summary Form

At Laurier, we believe extracurricular involvement and personal achievements are important. We can consider your extracurricular involvement when reviewing your application if you fill out our Applicant Background Summary (ABS) form after you apply. The deadline to submit the form has been extended to April 24, 2019, at 11:59 p.m. for 101 applicants. 105 applicants are encouraged to submit the form within two weeks of applying to Laurier.

Completing Your Applicant Background Summary Form

  • Go to the LORIS website.
  • Log in using your Laurier Username and Laurier password. If this is your first time using LORIS, log in with your temporary Laurier password, which is present to your date of birth in the format MMDDYYYY. You’ll need to change your PIN and add secret questions as soon as you log in.
  • Select the "Admissions" tab, click on the "Applicant Background Summary Form," and follow the steps to complete the form on LORIS.

Note: If you have applied to more than one Laurier program on your OUAC application, you only need to submit the ABS form once.

Disclosing a Disability

The decision to disclose a disability is yours alone – secondary schools don’t send their files to any postsecondary institution. If you choose to disclose a disability, make sure you submit supporting documentation to our Recruitment and Admissions office. The deadline for 101 applicants is April 24, 2019. 105 applicants should submit this documentation as soon as they apply. Learn more by visiting our Accessible Learning page.

Special Case/Extenuating Circumstances

If you have recently experienced any health or personal problems which you believe have adversely affected your ability to achieve the academic standing you would normally have expected, please submit a separate letter explaining the circumstances, as well as third-party supporting documentation.

If you are currently attending a secondary school, it would be advisable for you to discuss having a school guidance official make a submission on your behalf.

101 applicants should make arrangements to have this documentation sent directly to the Recruitment and Admissions office by April 24, 2019. 105 applicants should submit this documentation as soon as they apply.
