I led the Youth in Dialogue project at the Interfaith Department of Scarboro Missions. In addition, I am a research assistant at the Centre for Philosophy, Religion, and Social Ethics at the Institute for Christian Studies.
I hold a Master of Divinity and a Bachelor of Sacred Theology from the Toronto School of Theology, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto. I have been involved with several not-for-profit organizations dedicated to promoting dialogue and social participation amongst youth, including the North American Interfaith Network, Fontbonne Ministries and the Newman Centre Catholic mission.
Through the Youth in Dialogue project at Scarboro Missions, I continue to survey the landscape of interfaith relations amongst youth in the Greater Toronto Area. I am particularly interested in understanding how religious narratives mobilize young people to social justice action. In my own graduate research, I attempt to provide a philosophical framework to explain the social implications of religious narratives.
As part of my work with the Centre for Philosophy, Religion, and Social Ethics, I have participated in the multi-year research project entitled Justice & Faith: Individual Spirituality and Social Responsibility in the Christian Reformed Church in Canada. This initiative explored the ways in which congregants within the Christian Reformed Church understand the links between their faith journeys and the practise of justice.
I invite students to learn more about the Youth in Dialogue project. I am happy to create opportunities for them to gain practical experience in the youth-engagement initiatives that have emerged from this project.
