People at Laurier
Mark Duffie is originally from Grand Falls, New Brunswick. He completed his BA in Psychology elsewhere, but when he decided to pursue graduate studies in Social Work, Mark identified Laurier as his “premiere choice”. He is now working towards his PhD, wherein his dissertation research will explore “the experience of bereaved families and how this might be shaped and informed by cultural, political and institutional contexts.” Mark is also a graduate of Laurier’s MSW program and says, “Because of the tremendous support I received during my Master’s, I really couldn’t see myself undertaking Doctoral studies anywhere else!” Mark brings numerous years of practical experience to his studies and research at Laurier; having worked in educational, clinical and community settings as a practitioner, manager and instructor.
