People at Laurier

Richard Tamas, Waterloo Lutheran Seminary Who do you say that I am? Jesus asks this question of his disciples. Asking this same question within a therapeutic relationship, or in a class full of one’s peers studying gender bias, multifaith theology, or addiction counselling may elicit a surprising response. For, finding Christ in one another is a never-ending process, and I was thrilled to learn that this self-reflective process is central to WLU’s program in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy. Entering the DMin program with a background in counselling and youth ministry, I was eager to explore key concepts in my operative theology, spirituality and well-being. As a life-long learner, I value the seminary’s focus on self-discovery, authenticity and being true to oneself in relation to the course work. Now, having completed my first year in the DMin program, I appreciate the merit of a program that combines theory, practice and personal growth. WLU is definitely where the clinical and the academic come together, and I am thankful for that experience.
