Frederico Pieruccini-Faria accepts International Award Frederico Pieruccini-Faria ("Iko") is a Ph.D. student in the Faculty of Psychology/Cognitive Neuroscience at Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario. Iko was awarded a 4-year full scholarship from CNPq in Brazil (2009-2013) to conduct research on cognitive and sensory contribution to walking and tripping. In June 2012, several students along with MDRC Director, Dr. Quincy J. Almeida travelled to the Joint World Congress of the International Society for Posture & Gait Research and Gait & Mental Function ih Trondheim, Norway. Iko presented "Motor planning is affected by cognitive load in Parkinson's patients with freezing of gait (FOG) when approaching obstacles" and was awarded 2nd place out of 367 presentations. We would like to congratulate Iko on his accomplishments in his research and also for his exceptional representation of the Sun Life Financial Movement Disorders Rseearch and Rehabilitation Centre.
