People at Laurier

Dr. Marek Wartak, Department of Physics & Computer Science Marek was named Laurier’s University Research Professor for 2005–2006. He and his research group recently created the world’s first simulator of quantum well-based semiconductor lasers. Based on microscopic principles, this simulator is also able to simulate semiconductor nanostructures including quantum dots. Using this simulator to accurately model new optical communication devices shortens the design time for new products. Marek has received a number of SHARCNET Fellowships to support undergraduate and post doctoral students working on SHARCNET research projects.
