J. P. Bickell Foundation Donation

Laurier’s  Faculty of Science is pleased to announce a $20,000 donation from the J.P. Bickell Foundation designated to updating and enhancing its Anatomy Laboratory.

The J.P. Bickell Foundation’s financial support will assist the Faculty of Science to upgrade its neuro-anatomy models and purchase Acland’s Video Atlas of Human Anatomy, a 3-D video atlas that includes a series of anatomy lessons which expose students to realistic cadaver-like images.

Purchasing models as teaching aids is a solid investment, especially considering that a good quality, well-crafted model will last up to 20 years. Additionally, the benefits of a well-equipped Anatomy Laboratory will help Laurier’s Science students, particularly those in Health Sciences, Kinesiology and Biology, to prepare for careers in medicine and other health-related fields.

We are excited to be able to add the Acland’s Video Atlas of Human Anatomy, as this teaching tool promises to be a highly engaging addition to our Anatomy Laboratory. This 3-D software is comprised of a series of anatomy lessons on video. The Acland’s Video Atlas of Human Anatomy has become a very popular teaching tool with students and teachers alike, thanks to its use of accessible language and high quality images. This teaching resource will be most beneficial for the Science students at Laurier.
