Social Work Student Permit Info
Apply for a 2012-2013 Social Work Parking Permit
PLEASE NOTE: The deadline has passed to apply for a 2012-2013 Social Work parking permit for the Kitchener Campus.
During the application, please ensure you are selecting either an eight (8) month or ten (10) month permit. An 8 month permit is valid from September 2012 to April 30, 2013 while a 10 month permit is valid September 2012 to June 30, 2013. The deadline to apply is August 10th, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. Successful applicants will be contacted via email in mid-late August with further details. Permits are issued on a first come, first served basis.
Please note that the Forsyth parking lot will be unavailable during the upcoming school year due to scheduled construction by the City of Kitchener. As a result, Social Work students will be required to park in the new parking garage at the corner of Charles St. and Benton St. and walk to campus. The walk is approximately 10 minutes. As a result, students will also be required to place a $50.00 (refundable) deposit for a transponder allowing them access to the parking garage. This is in addition to the cost of the permit (see below).
8 month permit -- $273.62 + $50.00 refundable transponder deposit = $323.62
10 month permit -- $342.03 + $50.00 refundable transponder deposit = $392.03
Permits will be available for pick up beginning September 4, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. from the Parking and Transportation Resources office located at 202 Regina, 2nd Floor in Waterloo. Permits must be picked up by September 14, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. The method of payment is cash or cheque only.
Where Can I Park?
In addition to the parking garage at Charles St and Benton St., with a valid permit, social work students may park in lots designated as WHITE parking lots on the Waterloo campus [Lots 3A, 9, 27, 32 (Interior), 36 and 37 (left side)]. Please refer to a campus map for these locations. Typically, permit parking is enforced in these lots from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday (please verify with signs posted in these lots). FREE parking is offered after 4:30 p.m. in all WHITE permit lots for both students and visitors to the Waterloo campus. Failure to utilize the lots listed above may result in a ticket and/or tow.
Parking in staff/faculty lots, residence lots, in Pay & Display, meters, accessible spaces, service vehicle spaces and reserved spaces will not be tolerated and violators will be ticketed and/or towed. Parking on roadways, in fire routes and “no parking” areas are subject to an immediate tow.
Violations and Payment Options
Students who are issued a parking violation are responsible for forwarding payment or initiating the appeal process. Failure to pay your parking ticket(s) may result in further ticketing and/or tow of your vehicle from university property at your expense. Any un-paid parking violations may also lead to a hold on your student account.
