Laurier Work-Study Plan

The Student Awards office directs about 75 students annually to jobs on both the Waterloo and Brantford campuses as part of the Laurier Work-Study Plan. Funded by Laurier through the Student Access Guarantee, the work-study program is designed to provide on-campus part-time work experience for full-time students who need help paying for their education. The maximum you can earn is $1,000 per four-month term, including pay and benefits. Applications are available from the Student Awards office in September.

Email studentawards@wlu.ca for more information.

Jobs on campus

Laurier hires hundreds of its students every year as teaching and research assistants, residence dons, computer analysts, markers and telefundraisers. In fact, youíll find students working in virtually every department across campus. WLUSU, our Studentsí Union, operates several stores, restaurants and a bar on the Waterloo campus and hires more than 350 students annually in positions ranging from bartenders to cashiers to dishwashers. Visit the WLUSU website for more information.

Jobs off campus

Waterloo Region is a thriving community with a diverse manufacturing base, and healthy retail and service sectors. This is still one of the best areas in the country for students to find employment.

Brantford Campus

There are also many jobs on the Brantford campus for our students, from tour guides to research assistants, bookstore clerks to residence dons. Laurier's Brantford campus also has a Career Centre that can give you a hand with your off campus and summer job searches.

Co-op

Co-op is another great option for Waterloo students who need to make some extra money while earning their degree. As an added bonus, co-op gives you the opportunity to gain work experience in your field of study while earning a paycheque ó and the pay is often a lot higher than the usual part-time jobs for students!
