Laura Ferguson

3rd Year Kinesiology

Leaside, ON

Welcome future golden hawks! I'm so excited that you guys have decided to consider Laurier and all the fantastic things it has to offer. My name is Laura, and I'm currently in my third year of BSc Kinesiology. My first year experience at Laurier took me on a crazy roller coaster ride and you should all be looking forward to the great adventure you will have here.

Ever since my own first tour at Laurier, I had a feeling Laurier was the right fit for me. The small campus reminded me of the community I grew up in - a close-knit community called Leaside, located in Toronto. When I learned about the opportunities that Laurier had to offer, especially to first year students, that sealed the deal. My first year was an amazing, terrifying, and wonderful experience that resulted in so many amazing memories and great friendships. The only advice I can offer is to get involved and donít be afraid to step out of your shell. In my first year I was on my residence's House Council, was involved in intramurals and clubs, and took advantage of the many wonderful opportunities offered through first year leadership programs. Getting involved helped me create my home away from home in Waterloo. In second year, my extracurriculars took me more into the world of athletics, where I worked with Intramurals as a Referee-in-Chief for the inner tube water polo league, as well as with Event Staff helping to run varsity events.

Whatever you choose to do here at Laurier, you are going to enjoy it. I wish you the best of luck with your time here, and hope to see you around campus. Flaunt that amazing school spirit that Laurier is known for, and Stay Golden!
