Alex Mustakas



Alex Mustakas is currently the Artistic Director and CEO (Chief Entertainment Officer as he likes to refer to it) of Drayton Entertainment and has directed over 80 productions since the Theatreís 1991 inaugural season. Drayton Entertainment has quickly become one of Canadaís most successful summer theatre companies winning an impressive six Lieutenant-Governorís Awards for the Arts. Drayton Entertainment now operates six performing arts venues in Ontario: The Drayton Festival Theatre, Drayton; The Schoolhouse Theatre and St. Jacobs Country Playhouse, St. Jacobs; The Huron Country Playhouse and Playhouse II, Grand Bend; and, The Kingís Wharf Theatre, Penetanguishene.

Other recent projects have included directing duties for productions at The Grand Theatre, London; Lighthouse Festival, Port Dover, Stage West Dinner Theatre, Mississauga, Theatre Aquarius, Hamilton, the Toronto Gilbert and Sullivan Societies, Waterloo and Toronto; and, The Piggery Theatre, North Hatley, Quebec.

Alex holds a B.A. from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Masterís Degree in Arts Administration from City University of London, England. In 2004, he received an Honorary Doctorate from Wilfrid Laurier University in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the performing arts in Canada. In 2008, he received the first Ontario Innovation Excellence Award for Draytonís sustainable arts model. He has also served as President of the Association of Summer Theatres ĎRound Ontario and participated on two advisory boards: Connestoga College Broadcasting, and for Chym fm/CKGL AM, Kitchener.
