David Johnson

Tammy Schirle
  • Has published the article “Why have the labour force participation rates of older men increased since the mid-1990s?” in the Journal of Labor Economics, vol. 26, no. 4,  2008.
  • Is organizing the workshop 'Mothers, Workers and Retirees: The evolution of women's roles in the economy over the past 50 years’ being held at Laurier April 17-18, 2009.
Randy Wigle and Tracy Snoddon
  • Have been granted a research grant for $12,500 for the project ‘Sustainable Prosperity Research and Policy Network’ in which they are examining revenue recycling options among federal and provincial governments.
Wendy Wu
  • Presented two papers at the Midwest Finance Association meetings in March 2009
    • “Executive Compensation, Earnings Management, and Shareholder Litigation”
    • “Capital Structures and Moral Hazard within Entrepreneurial Firms.”
  • Published her paper “The incentive effect of repricing in employee stock options” in the Review of Accounting and Finance.

Research Centres

Laurier Centre for Economic Research & Policy Analysis

Viessmann Research Centre on Modern Europe

  • The objective of this multi-disciplinary centre is to foster research on new and dynamic issues facing Europe in the 21st Century. Relevant topics of research include European integration, regional development, external linkages, trade and political expansion as well as other overarching socio-economic problems.
  • Conference on Comparing North American and European Approaches to Climate Change, Friday September 28. 2007.

 
New Programs

We are now offering two new undergraduate programs and will offer a new graduate program in Fall 2007.  

  • Honours BA-Applied Economics
    This new program provides students with the opportunity to develop a sound knowledge of economic analysis and its application to a broad range of policy issues and problems. The program can be combined with the Administration option or with another Honours BA program.
  • Honours BA-Philosophy, Political Science and Economics (PPE).
    This new program, designed for a small number of highly-qualified students provides a demanding and broad liberal arts education. PPE students will be introduced to the great ideas, the great thinkers, and the most important approaches within the study of public life.
  • Masters in International Public Policy (MIPP) will commence in Fall 2007 (subject to the approval of OCGS)
    This interdisciplinary one-year master's program in international public policy provides graduate training for individuals looking to pursue or enhance careers in international or global policy development, implementation and evaluation.
