Software is to be purchased by Laurier staff and faculty for University use on University equipment.
Personal Purchases
|
| Students, faculty, and staff have two local sources for software that provide software at educational discounts. On campus, the Bookstore stocks a limited supply of popular software at good prices. Off campus, at the University of Waterloo, the UW Computer Store provides inexpensive software to students, faculty and staff of the University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University and University of Guelph. They negotiate educational discounts for all three universities when possible. Individuals purchasing products at the Laurier Bookstore or UW must present a valid WLU ID card (required to obtain educational pricing). |
University Purchases
|
| Software purchases that are not part of a site license always require a purchase order [Purchase Order Dollar Limit memo, B. Reichard, May 10 1995] which should be sent directly to Purchasing Services. If you require assistance in locating or pricing software, please contact Robert Green 3629, Bookstore, x3106. For software that the Bookstore cannot obtain, contact Jennifer Kohli, Purchasing Services (jkohli@wlu.ca), x6457.
Once you receive your software, you should fill out and send in the registration card if you want to maintain contact (i.e. literature, updates) with the supplier. The Ordered by/ Deliver to/ Dept./ Bldg/ Rm/ Ext/ information on the purchase requisition does not appear on the supplier's copy of the purchase order. This information is for internal delivery purposes only. If you do not fill in software registration information, updates are sent to 'Wilfrid Laurier University' and are usually delivered to Information Technology Services. Information Technology Services will make every attempt to deliver updates to the original purchaser. ITS will discard literature. Purchasers should be aware that ITS must balance the needs of the individual with the needs of the University community as a whole.
