BA Program
The Honours BA has the flexibility to allow students to incorporate either a specific secondary program (such as the Administration Option) or a broad range of courses from different disciplines within the elective credits available. The program develops the problem-solving skills, the mathematical theory and the applications important to this area in an integrated program of study. Throughout the program, the lab components will introduce the computing techniques, programs and languages that are fundamental to a coherent study of the material.
Required Courses
The Honours BA Financial Mathematics program consists of a minimum of 20.0 credits, including at least 9.0 and no more than 13.0 senior Mathematics credits. The program shall include no more than 7.0 100 level credits, and must include the following:
MA103 or MA110*, MA104, MA121, MA122, MA170, MA201, MA205, MA215, MA222, MA240, MA250, MA270, MA304, MA307, MA340, MA350, MA370, MA372, MA451, MA455, MA470, MA490
0.5 additional senior Mathematics elective credit.
Regulations and Notes:
- Electives must include at least a 0.5 credit from Division A.
- For progression and graduation, a minimum cumulative GPA of 4.00 in Mathematics and an overall GPA of 4.00 is required.
- EC260 and CP114 are recommended.
-
Based on the results of the Calculus Placement Evaluation, an entering student may be advised to
enroll in MA110*, rather than MA103, in Year 1; then MA104 would be completed in Fall term of Year
2 and MA215 in Fall term of Year 3, in place of the 0.5 non-BU elective. Hence, students who have
credit for MA110* require only 1.0 non-BU elective credits.
