NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA)
PURPOSE OF AWARD:
To allow qualified undergraduate students to assist in research projects during the May through August 2010 period under the direction and supervision of a faculty member in the Kinesiology Department who currently holds a NSERC operating grant ( list of these professors ).
Must be a Canadian citizen, or permanent resident of Canada
Registered (at the time you apply) as a full-time student in a bachelor's degree program (BA or BSc) in Kinesiology
Have obtained, over the previous years of study, a cumulative average of at least a grade of "B".
Students can expect to earn $5,625 ($4,500 + $1,125) or more during the tenure of the award . The number of awards available across all fields of natural science (e.g., Kinesiology, Chemistry, Physics and Computing, Mathematics, Biology, Geography etc.) at WLU is 18. However awards made to Aboriginal students will not be counted as part of Laurier’s quota, but in addition to it because NSERC would like to encourage applications from Aboriginal students.

INSTRUCTIONS SPECIFIC TO APPLYING TO THE KINESIOLOGY DEPARTMENT AT LAURIER
Complete all of Form 202 Part I, and only the top section of Part II of the form.
On Part II, do not fill in the section on Name and title of proposed supervisor, or any of the boxes below this.
Submit FORM 202 Part I and Part II to the attention of Dr. Paula Fletcher at the Kinesiology Office January 29, 2010.
APPLICATIONS WHICH ARE INCOMPLETE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. Official transcripts are not required: The department will generate a copy of your marks (including your Fall 2009 marks) to attach to your file. You will be informed of the name of your proposed supervisor and that individual will complete the sections in Part II that you left blank and give you a copy (e.g., outline of the proposed research project.)
The decisions regarding the awarding of these assistantships are made by a committee convened by the Dean of Research. Unsuccessful applicants are not usually given notification in writing; only successful applicants are notified in a letter from the Dean of Research.

Frank Knox Memorial Fellowship
Fellowship will allow student to devote the major part of their time to study
in one of the Faculties of Harvard University: Arts and Sciences (including Engineering), Business Administration, Design, Divinity Studies, Education, Law, Public Administration (John F. Kennedy School of Government), Medicine, Dental Medicine and Public Health.
