Medal Winners
The first medals of the Governor General were awarded in Canada over 100 years ago. The Earl of Dufferin, the third Governor General after Confederation, inaugurated what has now become one of the most prestigious awards that a Canadian graduate student can receive: the Governor General's Academic Medal.
This silver medal is awarded to the undergraduate student who achieves the
highest academic standing in the graduating class.

Alumni Gold Medals - Honours Programs
Awarded to a top student who has attained a minimum GPA of 10.0 (A-) in the senior courses of their program and a minimum cumulative GPA of 10.0 (A-). Starting in the Fall of 2005, medals were awarded to the top student in each faculty. Prior to the Fall of 2005, medals were awarded by discipline.
