Student Funding
These pages provide an introduction to the various sources of student funding from Wilfrid Laurier University and other granting sources. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that adequate financial resources are available.
Wilfrid Laurier University provides competitive guaranteed funding to students enrolled in full-time graduate studies.
Research-intensive master's programs: Eligible students admitted to study on a full-time basis in research-based master’s programs are guaranteed financial support averaging approximately $12,000 for each eligible year of study. Such support is made up of teaching assistantships and internal and/or external scholarship awards. Some research assistantship support is also available; students are encouraged to contact their academic program for more information. Major award holders (OGS, CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC) in the research master's programs are eligible for the Dean's Scholarship, valued at up to $7,500. Consult your academic program for further details.
Professional Master's programs: Full-time students in the professional master’s programs (MBA, MFin, MMT, MSW) are automatically considered for internal scholarships upon admission and are encouraged to apply for external awards; research assistantships may also be available and students are encouraged to contact their academic program for more information.
Doctoral programs: Eligible students admitted to study on a full-time basis in doctoral programs are guaranteed a minimum of $19,000 per year for up to four years. The average level of annual funding for eligible doctoral students at Laurier exceeds $20,000. Such support is made up of teaching assistantships, internal and/or external scholarship awards and research assistantships, where available. Students must meet the scholarship eligibility requirement of the university.
