Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholarship

Applications are available online, and students are responsible for ensuring they have met all the eligibility requirements and have adhered to the scholarship application guidelines.
Students registered at Wilfrid Laurier University must submit their application with all supporting documentation, plus 7 photocopies, to the Graduate Studies Office by November 15, 2012.
Value
- $40,000 per year for three years, plus up to an additional $20,000 annually to support research-related travel

Eligibility to Apply
- Be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant applying to a doctoral program in the social sciences and humanities or registered full-time in the first or second year of such a program at a Canadian university, OR
- Be a Canadian citizen applying to a doctoral program in the social sciences and humanities or registered full-time in the first or second year of such a program at a foreign university, OR
- Be a foreign national [with a preference for candidates from the developing world] applying to a doctoral program in the social sciences and humanities or registered full-time in the first or second year of such a program at a Canadian university
- Present a research project linked to one of the four themes of the Foundation
- Be nominated by a university
- Candidates must be applying into the first year of a doctoral program, or must be registered in the first or second year of such a program
- Candidates must be nominated by their university
Selection Criteria
- academic achievement at the level of the most competitive scholarship programs worldwide;
- outstanding ability to engage in lively exchange with other researchers and scholars;
- intention to work in an area related to one or more of the four key themes: Human Rights and Dignity; Responsible Citizenship; Canada in the World, and People and their Natural Environment with a desire to contribute to public dialogue around those themes
