Housing

Looking to rent? Laurier has partnered with Places4Students – an off-Campus housing website that specializes in providing students with high quality rental property options. Consult the Places4Students website for more information about renting opportunities.

Renting in Waterloo Region can cost $450-$650/month for a single room depending on location and amenities. We recommend that you seek out your fellow incoming students if you are searching for a roommate.

Health and Dental

All full-time and part-time graduate students are automatically covered by the GSA Health & Dental Plan. The Plan fee for full-year coverage (Sept. 1, 2014 - Aug. 31, 2015) is $521.26 and appears on your tuition bill in September.

Public Transit

Your tuition includes a bus pass through Grand River Transit (GRT). The GRT provides reliable bus service across the region. Consult the GRT website for more information about the GRT, including bus routes.

Parking

Parking at Laurier requires a student permit. 2014-2015 non-residence parking permits are available online.

Child Care

For those with young children, applying to regulated centre-based childcare options is an easy process with OneList Waterloo Region. With OneList you are able to submit only one application to apply to multiple daycare options.

Elementary and Secondary School

Waterloo has two school boards: Waterloo Region District School Board and Waterloo Catholic District School Board.

For international students: Tuition fees range from $10,000–$12,000 per student per year, however, tuition fees may be waived if you are registered in a graduate degree program.

Waterloo International Airport

The Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF) is a full-service facility located 10 minutes from Hwy. 401 and within a 20 minute drive from the cities of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo. There is daily scheduled non-stop service to Chicago and Calgary.

Things to do in Waterloo (other than study)

UpTown Waterloo

Laurier is a short walk to Uptown Waterloo. Uptown Waterloo is the urban centre of the City of Waterloo and is where you can find a wide selection of restaurants, shopping, cafés and night life.

Outdoor Activities

For the outdoor enthusiasts, the region is home to great outdoor activities from canoeing on the Grand River to hiking the trails in the thousands of acres of parks.

Farmer Markets

Every week, vendors bring you Ontario's farm-fresh foods at the St. Jacob`s Famer Market and Kitchener Market.
