Registration FAQ

I'm trying to log in and my PIN is not working. What should I do?

Have your PIN reset online <>. Your default PIN number is your date of birth, in the following format - MMDDYY. When you enter LORIS for the first time, you will be prompted to create a new PIN number. Your new PIN must be six numerals in length and can not begin with 0 (zero). At this time, you will also be prompted to create a security question. If you experience problems entering LORIS, contact the Registrar's Office at (519) 884-0710 ext 2764 or 2655.

I'm in a joint program and can't find some of my courses in LORIS. Why?

LORIS only lists courses which appear in the WLU Graduate Calendar.  Registration in courses taught at other institutions is not available through LORIS. You need to complete and submit the Ontario Visiting Graduate Student Application, available from the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Web site, to register for courses taught at other institutions.

I get an error message when I try to register in certain courses. Why?

The LORIS system will block your registration in courses for which you are not eligible to register. This may occur because the course is beyond the requirements for your chosen program, the course requires a prerequisite that you have not yet completed or the course requires departmental approval (such as a major research paper or thesis course). When you are denied registration in a course in which you need to register, contact your Graduate Co-ordinator.

I'm in the MBA program and am unable to register in certain business courses. Why?

Students registered in an MBA program at the Waterloo campus are restricted by LORIS to courses taught at this location. Similarly, students registered in an MBA Toronto program are restricted to courses taught at the St Andrew's Club and Conference and Centre in Toronto. When you execute a class search for the subject business, the location of the course is listed in the field "Cmp"; "W" indicates the Waterloo campus; "T" indicates the Toronto campus. Ensure you are registering in courses at the correct location.
