Oral Examinations: Scheduling and Final Submission



Scheduling and Submitting a Doctoral Dissertation

9 Weeks Before Proposed Defence Date
  • Your Advisor must complete and submit the PhD Dissertation Defence scheduling form to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (FGPS).

  • The form must include: i) signatures from all committee members, ii) proposed dates and times for the oral examination (be specific), iii) three proposed external examiners, iv) the CV of the first recommended external examiner and v) signature of the graduate coordinator
7 Weeks Before Proposed Defence Date
  • Submit three (3) copies of your dissertation to FGPS

Submission of Dissertation

Complete and submit the following forms (to be provided at your defence by Chair):

Upload the final approved version of their dissertation to Scholars Commons @ Laurier. Students must not upload their dissertation until the final document has been approved their supervisor and until all paperwork (Oral examination report/graduate candidate record and four addition forms) has been sent to FGPS.
