Academic Advising
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Although academic advising is available within each department or faculty dean's office, it is solely the responsibility of students to ensure that they are properly registered and meet course requirements and the requirements of the program for which they are registered.
When you have an academic question or issue, these are the options available to you:

Look for information in the Undergraduate Academic Calendar. Many of your questions can be answered in the calendar which is found on-line at: http://www.wlu.ca/calendars.

If you are in the Faculty of Arts and have declared a major, contact your department's undergraduate advisor for specific advice on your program, courses selection and graduation requirements. For a list of Faculty of Arts program undergraduate advisors, click HERE.

If you are in the Faculty of Arts and have not declared a major or if you are in a general BA or BA without designation program, contact an academic advisor in the Faculty of Arts. Drop in hours: Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30 am in DAWB 5-106.
Appointments: generally available from 1:30 - 4:00 pm Monday through Thursday in DAWB 5-106. Click on an advisors below; then use your Novell (mylaurier) login and password to log in to book an appointment on the calendar. Appointment time slots are 15 minutes. If your academic challenges are serious or complicated, you can make an appointment with the Associate Dean of Students, Dr. Mercedes Rowinsky. You can book an appointment with Dr. Rowinsky by e-mailing her at: mrowinsky@wlu.ca or calling her at (519) 884-0710 extension 2785.

If you need help to improve some aspect of your academic progress, you may want to check out the Learning Services Department. The offices in this area include the Accessible Learning Centre, Central Academic Advising, the Mathematics Assistance Centre, the Study Skills and SI Centre and the Writing Centre. CAREER DEVELOPMENT CENTRE The Career Centre supports career development as part of your Laurier experience. Contact the Career Centre for assistance with understanding what you can do with your degree (from any program), and to learn how to develop and pursue your career goals based on your academic program, interests, skills and values. Over 600 workshops and events are held annually and students are welcome to book individual appointments with staff for assistance with all career-related issues. The Career Centre also assists students with application to post-degree academic programs (graduate school, teacher education programs, etc.); employment preparation such as resumé-writing, job search and interview skills; and connecting with employers including access to a wide range of job postings.
