**In all cases of illness, the student MUST provide the Centre for Online Learning with a completed Verification of Illness Form in order for a deferred exam to be granted.
A $25 DEFERRED MIDTERM FEE will apply to all deferred midterms except those deferred because of conflict with another WLU event**
Note: Not all Online Learning courses have a proctored midterm exam.
Check the Midterm Schedule below for the date, time and location of your midterm exam. If you have questions or concerns about your midterm, please contact Scott Murie at extension 4881 between 9:00am - 1:00pm.

Online Learning students writing midterm examinations are responsible for arriving at the scheduled time and location. Refer to the midterm schedule in the Online Learning Guide. Laurier student identification cards are required. Forgetting, arriving late, or arriving at the wrong location or wrong time are not considered acceptable reasons to be granted a deferred midterm exam.
Online Learning students will be permitted to write the midterm exam up to one-half hour after the exam has started . They will, however, not be granted any extra time.
All students must hand in all completed and attempted work, rough notes made during the exam, and the exam paper with their name and I.D# on it before leaving the examination room. Students must also NOT leave the examination room before signing the attendance sheet. Unused examination booklets may not be taken from the examination room.
Briefcases, backpacks or other bags, calculators and any other study material must be put at the front of the examination room unless otherwise specified on the examination paper.
The proctor is not permitted to answer questions other than those concerning the examination paper.
Please note that Wilfrid Laurier University reserves the right to cancel the a centre as a location for midterms on a scheduled date if there are less than three midterms booked.
Under no circumstances will the office discuss midterm concerns with anyone other than the registered student.

Under certain circumstances, an Online Learning student may be granted a deferred midterm exam. However, please note that for some courses a deferred exam will NOT be granted under any circumstances.
If you have missed your midterm or think you may qualify for a deferred exam, please contact Soctt Murie IMMEDIATELY by email at onlinemidterms@wlu.ca (between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Monday to Friday).
Please note that all requests for deferred midterms must be sent via email. Phone requests will not be accommodated.
Deferred Exams MAY be granted for the following DOCUMENTABLE reasons:
- conflict with another exam (Please give a minimum of TEN (10) business days notice to ensure deferral is granted)
- medical reason (MUST provide Verification of Illness)
- family emergency (e.g. accident, illness or death)
Important:
Students planing to write a final exam off campus with a proctor: Please note that proctor confirmation forms for final exams must be submitted directly to the Final Exams Office.
Midterm exams proctor confirmation forms can not be used for final exams.
Please be advised that the Final Examinations Office handles all final exam conflicts, questions, and concerns, including those regarding Online Learning final examinations.
