Since 1993, Laurier has won an unprecedented three gold medals in the Canada-wide Uniform Final Examination for chartered accountants. The UFE exams are considered one of world's most difficult professional exams.

Sarah Hadley, a 2001 Honours Bachelor of Business Administration graduate who scored a perfect 300 on the 2002 UFE, spent all three co-op work terms with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and stayed with the firm after graduation. "I started in audit, but I find tax quite interesting, whether it's for technology companies, other corporate work or personal," she says.

Dennis Kavelman, a 1993 Honours Bachelor of Business Administration graduate, began with KPMG but joined Research In Motion Limited in 1995 when it had about 25 employees. RIM now has over 2,000 employees. "It's exciting, it's different," says Kavelman, who is RIM's chief operating officer. "I wanted to be in a start-up environment because I knew I could learn a lot."

Paul Van Bakel, a 1992 Honours Economics graduate, began his with Ernst and Young. He moved to Dalsa Corp. in 1995 and to automotive parts manufacturer Ledco Ltd. in 1999, where he is now controller. With 130 employees, Ledco "is a good size," Van Baekl says. "I'm involved in a lot of areas. It's really hands-on."
