David Brown, QC

Mr. Brown also plays a significant role in Canadian and international securities regulatory bodies. He is past Chair of the principal policy-setting body of the International Organization of Securities Commissions and a senior member of the Canadian Securities Administrators. He is also a member of the Public Interest Oversight Board and is the Chair of the Public Policy Forum. Prior to his appointment to the OSC, Mr. Brown was a senior corporate law partner for 28 years at Davies Ward & Beck, one of Canada's pre-eminent firms. Mr. Brown received his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Carleton University in 1963 and his LLB from the University of Toronto in 1966.
He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1984 and was awarded an honourary doctorate of laws from McMaster University in 2005.
