Leila Bautista is an honours economics and honours political science student at Laurier. In her four years, she volunteered for several organizations such as the Emergency Response Team (ERT) as a first responder and tutored for Students Offering Support. Currently, Leila is the Co-Director for Laurier Student Poll, a subsidiary of WLU Student Publications and is also the Internal Logistics Director for Laurier Economics Club. She is also an S.I. Assistant with the Study Skills Centre for EC120 and EC140 in the past year. Leila is an active member of WLU athletics as a 4-year veteran of Laurier's Varsity Swimming Team. Her extensive involvement with the Laurier community has earned her several awards such as the Dr. John Weir Economics Award of Distinction in 2010 as well as the Athletic Financial Award and Cindy and Trevor Gardner Student Athletic Scholarship in 2012. After completing two co-op terms with the Ontario Government's Ministry of Economic Development and Innovation (MEDI) as well as the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA), she continues to be involved with the co-op program as a mentor with the Co-op Student Advisory Council.
