Administrative and Practical Information
The 9 digit ID number on your Letter of Appointment will be needed to obtain Library
access, and an e-mail account. You can also contact the Admin. Assistant to the Dean, Melanie Whitwell (email@example.com, ext. 5251) for assistance.
Once you have your ID number, you will need to apply for a Laurier OneCard. The Laurier OneCard is your access card to the Laurier Community (i.e. library, access to FSW building). To obtain a OneCard, visit the OneCard Office located in the hallway adjacent to the Concourse (Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) of the main campus (see map). Please bring two pieces of identification; a Driver’s license or other Government photo Identification together with your Letter of Appointment/ID#.
The Social Work Library is on the lower level of the Faculty of Social Work building.
Use your OneCard to:
- Charge out and renew books
- Connect to online resources--electronic journals, databases, etc.--from off campus
- Request items from other libraries
- Put items on reserve for your class

As a part-time faculty member, you will require an e mail account. To obtain an e mail account, complete the Login Request Form (Staff and Faculty). To access your email from off-site, use Web Access, http://webaccess.wlu.ca
If your e-mail account is about to expire, you will receive a message from the ITS department. Please inform the Admin. Assistant to the Dean, Melanie Whitwell (firstname.lastname@example.org) who will submit a request for re-activation.
Be sure to advise our Administrative Manager, Linda Norton (email@example.com), of your WLU ID number to activate your access to the building, elevator and stairwells after hours (i.e. before 7:30 am, after 6 pm and on weekends). Remember to have your OneCard on you at all times to prevent getting stuck in stairwells or elsewhere during “off” hours.
The FAX number for FSW is 519-888-9732. The FAX machine is located in 414. Instructions for sending a FAX are posted.
Mailboxes for part-time faculty are maintained by Zaida Leon (firstname.lastname@example.org, ext. 5243) will arrange a mailbox for you in the part-time faculty office (room
415) which is accessible during normal office hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Office supplies are available in the mail/copy room on the fourth floor (414). If there is something that you need that is not there, please contact Zaida Leon (email@example.com).
User codes are assigned for use of the photocopiers on the third and fourth floor copy rooms. Photocopying is limited to small copying jobs. For larger duplicating jobs (more than 10 pages), the order should be sent to Printing Services.

Part-time (CAS) faculty are entitled to $125 per term for professional expenses related to teaching.

To submit a claim, please attach original receipts with the PER form to the FSW Dean's Office. Claims will be reimbursed for expenses incurred during your appointment period and may be made up to 15 days after the end of term.
We encourage you to maintain contact with your students via e mail. However, you may request to have a voice mailbox set up for your use. You can access your messages from both on and off campus.

The Faculty/Staff lounge (fourth floor, left off the elevator or stairwell) has a refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster and microwave available for your use.
