About Laurier Chemistry
This is an exciting time for the chemistry department at Wilfrid Laurier University. The department is in the process of growing and evolving. The total number of faculty has increased by 50% since 2002 and the undergraduate student enrollment in chemistry programs has doubled over this same period.
The chemistry department is increasing its research activities, with over one million dollars in funding since 2002, but maintaining its high standards in undergraduate teaching. A new program in Biochemistry and Biotechnology as well as new courses in Materials Chemistry make this an exciting time for undergraduate studies in Laurier's department of Chemistry.
The research of the faculty span a wide range of interests, from biophysical methods for membrane-molecule interactions to preparation of nanocomposite materials for applications as sensors or enantioselective catalysts.
