Canadian Excellence

Professional Affiliations

The Master of Music Therapy program maintains an active involvement with the Canadian Association for Music Therapy (CAMT),

The CAMT is a federally incorporated, self-regulated, non-profit professional association dedicated to the fostering of music therapy in clinical, educational and community settings throughout Canada. It is expected that music therapy students become members of the CAMT and the provincial chapter, Music Therapy Association of Ontario (MTAO),

It is a program expectation that students join the CAMT and MTAO, and complete their internship upon graduation. Students must be members in good standing with CAMT for at least 6 months before they can apply for an internship.

Both CAMT and MTAO have annual conferences, which are an opportunity to meet music therapists, students and interns, plus attend presentations on a variety of music therapy topics.

Both these organizations are important sources of information for regulation in Ontario and the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Laurierís MMT program is in the process of applying to CRPO for review and recognition as a psychotherapy education and training program.
