Academic Advising

Academic Advising

Although academic advising is available within the faculty, in all cases, it is solely the responsibility of students to ensure that they are properly registered and meet course requirements and the requirements of the program for which they are registered. All students should review the University Undergraduate Regulations chapter and the relevant program requirements and course information carefully.

Academic Advisor, Faculty of Music: Janice Dobbin, ext. 2956, jdobbin@wlu.ca

For Academic Advising, students in the following programs should consult these faculty members:

Church Music: Dr. Charles D. Morrison
Compostion: Dr. Peter Hatch
Music History: Dr. Alma Santosuosso
Comprehensive: Dean Glen Carruthers
Music Education: Dr. Lee Willingham
Music Therapy, all years: Dr. Colin Lee
Opera Diploma: Prof. Leslie De'Ath
Performance Diploma: Prof. Leslie De'Ath
Chamber Music Diploma: Prof. Paul Pulford
Theory: Dr. Kevin Swinden
Post-degree studies other than diplomas: Dean Charles D. Morrison

Faculty will try to help you, but it is ultimately your responsibility to meet the requirements of your program so read the regulations and requirements in the Calendar (the music section starts on p. 235). If you are having trouble with a course, talk with the instructor. If you need further advice, speak with your academic advisor. If you require more assistance, meet with Janice Dobbin and/or the Dean.
