Exploring a Milton Campus
The Town of Milton, one of the fastest-growing communities in Canada, has long sought to attract a post-secondary educational institution. The Town approached Wilfrid Laurier University in 2007 because of Laurier’s reputation for academic excellence and its success in developing the Laurier Brantford campus.
In March 2008, Laurier and the Town signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to explore the possibility of establishing a campus and developing a "Milton Education Village" adjacent to the Niagara Escarpment. As the talks progressed, other potential partners expressed interest and, on Jan. 24, 2011, a new MOU was signed. For Laurier, the new MOU reaffirms the university's interest in continuing to explore the potential for a campus in Milton.
Since the exploratory process began in 2008, the university and its senior administrators have provided numerous public updates and opportunities for discussion and input. The Town of Milton has done likewise. These many updates and input opportunities can be found below.
