New Dean of Social Work appointed
Wilfrid Laurier University has appointed Dr. Nick Coady as Dean of the Faculty of Social Work. Nick has taken over the role from Dr. Susan Cadell, who served as Acting Dean for 18 months. Susan is now on a well-deserved sabbatical, focusing on her research and supervision of graduate students.
Nick joined Laurier in 1994 as an Associate Professor, after working in the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Calgary for six years. His social work practice background includes individual and family work with multi-problem adolescents and their families and group work with abusive men. Nick's scholarship has focused mainly on the importance of the helping relationship to helping outcomes. He served two terms as Associate Dean of the Master of Social Work program and two terms as the Associate Dean in the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
"Dr. Coady has been an active and engaged professor in the Faculty of Social Work," said Deb MacLatchy, Vice President Academic and Provost. "His leadership over the next five years will help guide the faculty as it undertakes exciting new opportunities regionally as well as nationally and internationally."
