In March 2011 Laurier joined the Canadian Rivers Institute as a Network Member.
The mandate of the CRI is to develop the aquatic science needed to understand, protect, and sustain water resources for the region, nation, and the planet. Since its inception in 2000, the CRI has built linkages to a network of over 50 research leaders across Canada and internationally (the Associates) and more than 100 graduate students. The principal directions of CRI are governed by 16 Science Directors. Dr. MacLatchy is the Science Director from Laurier and also serves as the Chair of the Directors group. Current CRI Associate members from Laurier are Drs. Lister, Smith, Stevens and McGeer.
