When you apply for Laurier tuition bursary assistance, you will be assessed for the maximum amount of available bursary funding through this program. This bursary assistance is made available from tuition set aside funds. In addition, eligible students will be considered for funding from the Student Access Guarantee (see below). There is no need to submit a separate application, funding eligibility for the Student Access Guarantee is determined based on an OSAP assessment, and no application is required in order to receive Student Access Guarantee funding, it is granted automatically. It is possible to receive bursary assistance from each of these sources.  Notification of eligibility for Student Access Guarantee funding, for full time students in class for the fall and winter terms, is sent by late November.

For general tuition bursary assistance, you will be assessed based on your income and expenses for the applicable study period. General Laurier tuition bursary assistance is not available during the spring and summer terms. Exceptions to the standard application procedures are made for 3rd and 4th year business co-op students and full-time students doing chartered accountancy add-ons during the fall semester (see exceptions).

• Student Access Guarantee: The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) and Ontario's provincially assisted universities and colleges are partnering to support access to post secondary education. In March 2006, the Ministry ended a two year tuition freeze and announced a new Tuition Framework for the Fall 2006 to the Winter 2010. Postsecondary institutions are now required to participate in the Student Access Guarantee (SAG) that states "no qualified Ontario student should be prevented from Ontario's public colleges and universities due to the lack of financial support programs. Students should have access to the resources they need for their tuition, books, and mandatory fees when these are above the usual range of costs which are covered by OSAP".   These funds are granted automatically, no additional application is required. The amount of the Student Access Guarantee awarded per student is calculated through the OSAP assessment, and no appeals are considered for the amount of funding granted through the Student Access Guarantee.
