Women's Campus Safety Committee
Have a safety concern? Submit a proposal. Over $20,000 distributed per year!
Grants are now being accepted until March 8, 2013.
The Women's Campus Safety Committee's mandate is to review and approve proposals to enhance safety for women on Laurier's campuses through the use of the Ontario Government's Women's Campus Safety Grant. Currently, Laurier receives $20,673 per year to be spent on initiatives.
Successful projects include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Implementation of campus safety audit recommendations;
- Education initiatives, including research initiatives, which address women's safety and security issues;
- Support to programs that address the safety and security needs of female staff, faculty and students.
A call for proposals is sent to the Laurier community at the end of January, with proposals due at the beginning of March. Proposals are now being accepted until March 8, 2013. Please submit proposals to Dana Gillett at dgillett@wlu.ca.
Proposals do not need to be long in length, but must include the following headings and information:
- Summary: an overview of the proposed project
- Project Leader: a person responsible for implementing and managing the project
- Impact on Women's Safety at Laurier: a description of the project's impact on women's safety at Laurier.
- Budget Details: brief overview of the project's budget, including quotes for goods and services
**Please note: all funds must be distributed to a university departmental budget (WLUSU and GSA are included). Student-submitted proposals should indicate the name of the department that will manage the budget.
