EC 238 Winter 2013
Announcements:
Midterm exam will be held in class on February 11 (Monday). As I mentioned in last class, midterm exam will cover Ch 1 to Ch 5, inclusive, of the textbook (4th or 5th edition). Exam will be 1 hour and 10 minutes long. It will have the following two parts:
Part A: 2 out of 2 'True/False/Uncertain with explanation' type questions or short questions 5 * 2 = 10 marks
Part B: 2 out of 2 multi-part problem solving questions 30 marks
To prepare for the exam, I strongly recommend you to work out the optional assignments (1, 2, and 3) which are posted on the website. You should also study the textbook and go through the lecture slides and your class lecture notes carefully. In particular, you should make sure that you understand all of the models with a graphical explanation.
You will need a pen, pencil, and non-programmable calculator to write this exam. You can draw the diagrams with a pencil. But you must the write your answers to the exam questions, excluding the diagrams, with a pen.

Final exam will be held in SBE 1220 from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm on April 15 (Monday).
As I announced in last class, final exam will cover Ch 1 to Ch 13, inclusive, and Chapter 18 of the textbook ( 4th or 5th edition). Final exam will aslo cover Page 452 to 457, inclusive, of Ch 20 (5th ed.) or Page 390 to 394, inclusive, of Ch 20 (4th ed.) Exam will be 2 hours and 30 minutes long. It will have the following two parts:
Part A: THREE 'True/False/Uncertain with explanation' type questions or short questions 3 * 5 = 15 marks
Part B: THREE multi-part problem solving questions 3* 20 = 60 marks
To prepare for the exam, I strongly recommend you to work out the optional assignments (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6) which are posted on the website. You should go through the solutions to the optional assignments and midterm exam. You should study the textbook and go through the lecture slides and your class lecture notes carefully. In particular, you should make sure that you understand all of the models with a graphical explanation.
