Midterm exam will be held on October 18 (Thursday) in class. Exam will cover Ch 1, Ch 2, Appendix to Ch 2, Ch 3, Appendix to Ch 3, and Ch 18 of the textbook (3rd ed.).
Exam will be 1 hour and 15 minutes long. It will have the following three parts:
Part A: 10 multiple choice questions 1*10 = 10 marks
Part B: 2 Short questions 2*5 = 10 marks
Part C: 2 multi-part problem solving questions 20 marks
To prepare for the exam I strongly recommend you to work out the optional assignments which are posted on the course website. You should also work out the self-test on-line quizzes which are available in the textbook's website. You should also study the assigned chapters and your class lecture notes carefully.
You will need a pen, pencil, and non-programmable calculator to write this exam. You can draw the diagrams with a pencil. But you must the write your answers to the questions in Part B and Part C of the exam, excluding the diagrams, with a pen. You must write your answers to Part A (MCQ) of the exam with a pencil.

I posted a revised version of the solutions to Assignment 1 (Optional). There were some critical typos in the original version of the solutions. So, you should use this revised version when you work out Assignment 1.

You can study Section 1.2 and Section 1.3 of Chapter for your own interets. I did NOT discuss it in class. So, you will NOT be tested on these materials. You can exclude Section 1.2 and 1.3 of Chapter 1 from the midterm exam syllabus.

I posted midterm exam marks on the course website. You can find your marks by looking for the last 5 digits of your student ID. I returned the marked exams in class on Nov 1 (Thursday). If you were absent in class on Nov 1, you can pick up your marked exam after class on Nov 6 (Tuesday).

Final Exam will be held on December 14 (Friday) from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm in SBE1220. As I mentioned in last class, final exam will cover the materials from Ch 1, Ch 2, Appendix to Ch 2, Ch 3, Appendix to Ch 3, Ch 18 , Ch 19, Appendix to Ch 19, 20, Appendix to Ch 20, Ch 21 and Ch 22 of the textbook (3rd ed.).
Please note that exam will NOT cover Ch 23 and Ch 24.
Exam will be 2 hours and 30 minutes long. It will have the following three parts:
Part A: 20 multiple choice questions 1*20 = 20 marks
Part B: FOUR Short questions 5*4 = 20 marks
Part C: FOUR multi-part problem solving questions 40 marks
To prepare for the exam I strongly recommend you to work out all Optional Assignments (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7) which are posted on this course website. You should also work out the self-test on-line quizzes which are available in the textbook's website. You should also study the assigned chapters and your class lecture notes. In particular, you should make sure that you understand all of the models with a graphical explanation. You should also go through the solutions to the midterm exam which is posted on the course website.
Questions in Part B and Part C of the exam will be similar to the questions in Optional and Required Assignments . To prepare for Part A of the exam, I recommend you to read the textbook carefully and to go through your class lecture notes. And you should also work out the self-test on-line quizzes which are available in the textbook's website.
