Welcome to the website for EC223 Section A & B Fall 2011!


Announcements

Oct 24, 2011

Midterm exam will be held on Oct 26 (Wednesday) in class. As I mentioned in the class on Oct 19, midterm exam will cover Chapter 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Exam will be 1 hour and 10 minutes long. It will have the following two parts:

Part A: 30 multiple choice questions     30*1 = 30 marks

Part B: 6 problem solving/analytical questions 6*5 = 30 marks

To prepare for the exam I srongly recommend you to work out the optional assignments (1, 2, 3 and 4) which are posted on the course website and Practice Questions - Set 1, Set 2, Set 3, Set 4, Set 5 and Set 6, which are posted on MyEconLab. 

You should also study the textbook chapters and your class lecture notes carefully. In particular, you should make sure that you understand all the models and its graphical explanations, and you can solve the problems which are worked out for you in the 'Application' section of the textbook.

I will hold my regular office hours from 4:00 am to 5:30 pm on Oct 25 (Tuesday). Please feel free to stop by if you have any question.

EC 223 Final Exam will be held in University Stadium on Dec 8 from 8:30 am to 11:00 am. As I announced in the class on Nov 30, final exam will cover Chapter 1 to Chapter 7, inclusive, Chapter 13, Chapter 16, and Chapter 17 from the textbook (4th edition).  Exam will be 2 hours and 30 minutes long. You will be allowed to use a non-programmable calculator and/or a financial calculator in the exam.

Exam will have the following two parts:

Part A: 50 multiple choice questions                   50*1 = 50 marks

Part B: 8 problem solving/analytical questions   8*5 =40 marks

To prepare for the exam I srongly recommend you to work out all Optional Assignments (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6) which are posted on the course website and all Practice Questions sets which are posted on MyEconLab. You should also study the textbook chapters and your class lecture notes. In particular, you should make sure that you understand all the models and its graphical explanations, and you can solve the analytical/numerical problems which are worked out for you in the 'Application' section of the textbook. You should also go through the solutions to the midterm exam which is posted on the course website.  

Please note that the questions in Part B of the exam will be similar to the questions in Optional Assignments. To prepare for Part A of the exam, I recommend you to read the textbook carefully and to go through your class lecture notes.  And you should also work out the multiple choice questions from all Practice Questions sets which are posted on MyEconLab. 

If you have any question about the exam materials, please free to stop by my office (P3028) during my exam-week office hours, which are as follows:

Dec 6th 3:30 - 5:30 pm

Dec 7th 3:30 - 5:30 pm

If you have not picked up your marked midterm exam yet, you can stop by during the above mentioned office hours to do that.
