Midterm exam will be held on Oct 21 (thursday) in class. Exam will cover Ch 12, Ch13, Appendix to Ch 13, and Ch 14. Exam will NOT cover Ch 15. Exam will be 1 hour and 15 minutes long. It will have the following three parts:

Part A: 30 multiple choice questions     1*30 = 30 marks

Part B: 2 out of 3 'True/False/Uncertain with explanation' type questions or short questions 2*5 = 10 marks

Part C: 1 multi-part problem solving questions 1*20 = 20 marks

To prepare for the exam I srongly recommend you to work out the optional assignments (1, 2 and 3) which are posted on the course website and Practice Questions - Set 1, Set 2 and Set 3, which are posted on MyEconLab. However, for your midterm exam preparation you can ignore Question A3, A4 and B1 of Optional Asssignment 2. Because these questions are based on the materials from Chapter 15.

You should also study the textbook chapters and your class lecture notes. In particular, you should make sure that you understand all the models and its graphical explanations.

Final Exam will be held on Dec 14 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm in four different rooms. Please visit the website of the Office of the Registrar to find out your exam room location. 

As I mentioned in  last class, final exam will cover the materials from Ch 12 to Ch 18 (8th edition), inclusive, and Chapter 19 (only page 532 to the end of first pargraph on page 537). Exam materials include Appendix to Chapter 13 (8th edition), Appendix to Chapter 15 (8th edition) and Appendix 1 to Chapter 17 (8th edition). In addition, the exam will cover one additional material - Appendix I to Chapter 16 (6th edition) which is posted on the course webiste.

EXCLUSIONS: Please note that Appendix 1 to Chapter 16 (8th edition), Appendix 2 to Chapter 16 (8th edition), and Appendix 2 to Chapter 17 (8th edition) will NOT be covered in the final exam.

Exam will be 3 hours long. It will have the following three parts:

Part A: 40 multiple choice questions    40*1 = 40 marks

Part B: 4 out of 5 'True/False/Uncertain with explanation' type questions 4*7.5 = 30 marks

Part C: 2 multi-part problem solving/ analytical questions 2*15 = 30 marks

To prepare for the exam I srongly recommend you to work out all Optional Assignments (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8) which are posted on the course website and all Practice Questions sets which are posted on the MyEconLab website. In addition, you must study your class lecture notes and posted lecture slides, and read the textbook carefully. In particular, you should make sure that you understand all of the models with a graphical explanation. You should also go through the solutions to the midterm exam which is posted on the course website.

Questions in Part B and Part C of the exam will be similar to the questions in Optional Assignments. To prepare for Part A of the exam, I recommend you to read the textbook carefully and to go through your class lecture notes.  And you should also work out the multiple choice questions from all Practice Questions sets which are posted on the MyEconLab website and from Optional Assignment 3 and 8, which are posted on the course website.
