Midterm exam will be held on October 18 (Thursday) in class. Exam will cover Ch 1, Ch 2, Appendix to Ch 2, Ch 3, Appendix to Ch 3, and Ch 18 of the textbook (3rd ed.).
Exam will be 1 hour and 15 minutes long. It will have the following three parts:
Part A: 10 multiple choice questions 1*10 = 10 marks
Part B: 2 Short questions 2*5 = 10 marks

To prepare for the exam I strongly recommend you to work out the optional assignments which are posted on the course website. You should also work out the self-test on-line quizzes which are available in the textbook's website. You should also study the assigned chapters and your class lecture notes carefully.
You will need a pen, pencil, and non-programmable calculator to write this exam. You can draw the diagrams with a pencil. But you must the write your answers to the questions in Part B and Part C of the exam, excluding the diagrams, with a pen. You must write your answers to Part A (MCQ) of the exam with a pencil.

I posted a revised version of the solutions to Assignment 1 (Optional). There were some critical typos in the original version of the solutions. So, you should use this revised version when you work out Assignment 1.

You can study Section 1.2 and Section 1.3 of Chapter for your own interets. I did NOT discuss it in class. So, you will NOT be tested on these materials. You can exclude Section 1.2 and 1.3 of Chapter 1 from the midterm exam syllabus.
