SP288: Study Abroad (formerly SP200)
Now in its 9th consecutive year, SP288: Study Abroad (formerly SP200) is an international immersion experience in a Spanish-speaking country. This 1.0-credit course is led by a Laurier faculty member and lasts approximately 4 weeks. The experience incorporates all of the essential areas of Spanish language learning with in-class activities designed to sharpen vocabulary, grammar, speaking, and reading skills. Fluency and listening comprehension are further developed through constant interaction in Spanish not only in class but also through host families, community members, and cultural immersion. An understanding of the target culture is obtained during extracurricular guided tours and day trips which also complement themes learned in and out of the classroom.
Open to all students!! Starting in 2016, SP288 will not have a pre-requisite although it is highly recommended that students take at least introductory Spanish before participating in SP288.
