Dr. Carol Stalker
Carol Stalker, PhD, RSW, Professor, Faculty of Social Work, Wilfrid Laurier University, practiced social work for 20 years in child welfare and adult mental health settings before becoming a faculty member at WLU in 1994. She teaches in the Individual, Families and Groups concentration. Her research has focused on effective interventions with adult survivors of child abuse, promoting sensitive practice by health professionals, finding ways that child welfare agencies can improve the work experiences of their employees and the experience of immigrants to Canada when they come into contact with child welfare organizations. She is currently pursuing research regarding the role of social workers in interprofessional Family Health Teams and studying the effectiveness of single session interventions.
