New staff who participate in an orientation/sign-up interview in Human Resources will complete a Login Request Form at that time. The userid and password for these accounts will be mailed to staff.
A Login Request Form may be completed online by all faculty members. The userid and password for these accounts will be available at the ITS Help Desk (Library); faculty will be required to present a photo ID and to sign the Login Request Form at the ITS Help Desk. Every effort will be made to have userid(s)/password(s) available one business day following submission of the online form.
A Sponsored Login Request Form is also available online. This form must be completed by employees whose positions were not posted on the Human Resources web site, visiting professors, students requiring Banner access, and all non-employees at WLU. The signature of a sponsor is also required on these forms. The requestor must pick up the userid(s) and password(s) at the ITS Help Desk (Library).
Staff and faculty will normally use the CMS (content management system) for
creating web pages. In some circumstances (e.g. special programming requirements,
non-Laurier group) direct access to the server may be required. Individuals
requesting such access should contact Kevin Crowley,
x.3070, to discuss requirements. Once approval has been obtained, the login
request form (PDF) should be filled out.
Info accounts: Accounts are no longer being created on info. All information should be moved to the new webserver. Please notify Shelagh Pepper when an account can be removed.
Some faculty and staff may also require a unix account. Ipmail is high speed and ideal for pop/imap email users. The system has fast processors and can be used for research programming. The email address for users on Ipmail has the format firstname.lastname@example.org . All users on Ipmail have a disk quota and are expected to manage their own file space.
All faculty and staff require a Novell account for email and to access the microcomputer network. Novell accounts are used to access:
- email with GroupWise (please note that GroupWise does not support IMAP or POP, if you require IMAP or POP access, see Ipmail above),
- department disk space accessible from your microcomputer as an additional hard drive,
- academic course material available to the students in the student microcomputer labs,
- printing services in some department (configuration dependent), and
- the University Information System.
