The PhD in Management - Accounting program will prepare candidates for an academic career in accounting. The program is designed to provide breadth of knowledge of accounting theory and research methodologies, and training in both basic and advanced accounting research to develop analytic and interpretive skills as well as intellectual independence. These objectives are achieved through a combination of formal course work, seminars, independent research, teaching and research assistantships and a thesis.
Students will have the opportunity to focus their learning and research in one of two areas of specialization 1) Management Accounting and 2) Financial Accounting, using behavioral or archival research methods. Graduates will have acquired autonomy in conducting original research, preparing scholarly publications, communicating their new knowledge, and working independently and ethically in an advanced research program.
